How to Grow Broccolini

Brassica oleracea var. italica x alboglabra

Hardy Cool Season Continuous Harvest

Broccolini is a broccoli-gai lan hybrid that produces slender tender stems topped with small florets. Sow indoors in modules, transplant after 4-5 weeks into fertile, firm soil in full sun. Space 30cm apart. Net against cabbage whites. Keep well watered for continuous stem production. Harvest stems at 15-20cm by cutting low — side shoots will keep producing for weeks. More heat-tolerant than broccoli, ideal for succession sowing spring through summer.

When to Start

Direct sow outdoors as soon as soil reaches 6°C — typically early to mid spring. Can also be started indoors 4 weeks earlier for a head start.
