Care Essentials

Feed every two weeks with a balanced liquid fertilizer during active growth (spring through autumn). Stop feeding in winter when growth slows.

Watch For

  • Spider mites in dry indoor air
  • Scale insects on leaf undersides
  • Root rot from waterlogged soil
  • Leaf tip browning from low humidity

Care Requirements

Light

Bright filtered light, no direct sun

Prefers bright indirect light or dappled shade. Direct afternoon sun can scorch leaves. In temperate climates, a conservatory or bright room is ideal.

Watering

Regular moisture, high humidity

Keep soil consistently moist during the growing season. Mist frequently or use a humidity tray. Reduce watering in winter but never let the rootball dry out completely.

Fertilizing

Biweekly liquid feed in growing season

Feed every two weeks with a balanced liquid fertiliser from spring through autumn. Stop feeding in winter when growth slows. Vigorous grower that benefits from regular nutrition.

Pruning

Remove spent flower stalks and dead canes

Cut spent flower stalks to the base after blooming. Remove dead or damaged canes in spring. Thin congested clumps every few years for vigour and airflow.
