How to Grow Pearly Everlasting
Anaphalis margaritacea
Pearly Everlasting is a hardy perennial grown for its silvery stems, grey-green woolly foliage, and clusters of papery white flowers with yellow centres. Plant in full sun to part shade in any well-drained soil — it thrives in poor, dry conditions and is excellent for rockeries, cottage gardens, and wildlife borders. Water regularly until established, then largely drought-tolerant. Cut for drying just as the flowers open. Cut back to ground level in autumn.
When to Start
Plant directly outdoors once soil temperature reaches 10°C. No seed starting needed — grow from bulbs, tubers, or sets.

Care Essentials
- Apply a balanced slow-release fertiliser in spring as new growth emerges. Avoid high-nitrogen feeds which promote leafy growth at the expense of flowers.
- Pearly Everlasting is a low-maintenance cottage garden and rockery perennial valued for its silvery foliage and papery white flowers with yellow centres. It spreads gradually by rhizomes and self-seeds lightly. Excellent as a dried flower — one of the longest-lasting everlastings.
