About Leaftide
I'm João. I'm Brazilian, living in the UK. A few years ago I bought a house with a garden and started growing things. Spreadsheets, notes apps, random photos... nothing quite fit how I think about a garden. So eventually I just built something that worked the way I wanted.
That's Leaftide. It tracks what I plant, when things happen, and what actually works across seasons. The tools that existed were either bed planners (draw rectangles, done) or only handled annuals. Nothing could follow a plum tree from year to year.
The articles on this site come from my own garden. When I write about tomato spacing or pruning schedules, it's because I ran into the problem myself and figured it out. I cross-check what I write against RHS guidance, NOAA weather data, and university extension research. I'm not interested in repeating gardening myths.
Leaftide is a one-person project. I design it, build it, and support it. Still young, but I use it every day in my own garden, which means I notice what's broken before anyone else does.
What I grow
Vegetables (tomatoes, courgettes, beans, peas, onions, garlic, potatoes, cucumbers, peppers, whatever fits), fruit trees (apple, pear, plum, cherry), soft fruit (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackcurrants), and herbs. South of England, so: mild winters, springs that can't make up their mind, and a growing season that always feels shorter than it should be.
