How to Grow English Daisy

Bellis perennis

Perennial

The common English daisy is a tiny, tough perennial that thrives almost anywhere with minimal care. Its flat rosettes of spoon-shaped leaves hug the ground, sending up short stems topped with cheerful white-and-yellow flowers from early spring right through to autumn. It self-seeds freely and tolerates mowing, foot traffic, and neglect. Perfect for naturalising in lawns, edging borders, or filling containers.

Care Requirements

Light

Full sun to partial shade

Flowers most in full sun but tolerates shade well. Thrives even under deciduous trees where it flowers before leaf canopy closes.

Watering

Rarely needed

Established plants are extremely drought-tolerant. Only water container-grown plants in extended dry spells.
