How to Grow Bedding Verbena
Verbena x hybrida
Half Hardy Warm Season
Bedding verbena is a half-hardy annual for full sun and well-drained soil. Sow indoors in late winter at 20-25C, covering seeds lightly as they need darkness to germinate. Prick out into modules, harden off after the last frost, and plant out 30cm apart. Deadhead spent clusters regularly and feed fortnightly to keep flowers coming from early summer until the first autumn frost.
When to Start
Sow indoors 8 weeks before last frost, or direct sow outdoors after frost risk has passed and soil reaches 15°C.
