How to Grow Agretti
Salsola soda
Agretti is a Mediterranean annual prized for its crunchy, salty-tasting succulent stems. Seeds have very low germination rates (around 30%), so sow thickly using the freshest seed available. Soak seeds overnight and direct sow after last frost when soil reaches 18C. Prefers full sun and well-drained, loamy soil. Harvest by cutting stems at 15-18 cm; the plant regrows for multiple cuts over a short spring season. Bolts quickly once temperatures exceed 25C, so time your sowing for a cool spring window.
When to Start
Sow indoors 2 weeks before last frost, or direct sow outdoors after frost risk has passed and soil reaches 18°C.
