Safety & Advice

Important safety information for gardeners

Leaftide provides general gardening information and planning tools. It is not a substitute for professional horticultural, agronomic, or medical advice.

Edible plants & food safety

  • Only eat plants you have correctly identified. If in doubt, do not consume.
  • Wash produce thoroughly; avoid cross-contamination with raw meat and unclean water.
  • Be aware of allergies; introduce new foods gradually.

Toxic plants & pets

Some ornamentals and bulbs are harmful to pets and children. Keep toxic plants out of reach and seek veterinary/medical help immediately if ingested.

Plant protection products (PPP)

  • Always read the label and follow the instructions. Use only products approved for amateur/home garden use in your country.
  • Never apply off-label or mix products unless the label allows it. Wear appropriate PPE.

Invasive species & local rules

Some plants are restricted or require special disposal. Check local guidance before planting or disposing of invasive species.

General safety

  • Use tools safely and maintain sharp edges away from children.
  • Store chemicals securely; never decant into unlabelled containers.
  • Mind lifting technique and take care with power tools and ladders.

Limitations

Dates, stage predictions, and climate guidance are estimates. Weather, microclimate, and cultivar differences may affect outcomes.
